Openhouse + On Lok Community Day Services, affectionately known as Club 75 by its LGBTQ+ community, hosted San Francisco Supervisor Rafael Mandelman’s swearing-in ceremony on January 6 in its space at 75 Laguna Street.

“Supervisor Mandelman has been a wonderful supporter of On Lok 30th Street Senior Center and Openhouse + On Lok Community Day Services," said John Blazek, Executive Director, Day Services. “We were honored that he asked to have the ceremony take place at Club 75. It is a symbol of his commitment to the important work our organizations are doing together to provide the first program of its kind in the nation, created by and for the LGBTQ+ community.”

Kathleen Sullivan, Executive Director of Openhouse, co-hosted the celebration, highlighting our partnership and shared goals for the LGBTQ+ community.

During the ceremony, Sandra Rivas, Director of Programs and Operations, Day Services, and Su Waqa, Adult Day Program Manager, delivered messages written by older adults who wanted to share their experiences and wish Supervisor Mandelman good luck in his new term.

State Senator Scott Weiner administered the swearing-in oath, and the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus participated with a touching performance.

Supervisor Mandelman has represented District 8 on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors since 2018. District 8 includes the Castro, Glen Park, Noe Valley, Cole Valley, Diamond Heights, Twin Peaks, Duboce Triangle, and Mission Dolores.
