Ben Lui, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.P.
As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Ben Lui sets direction for On Lok’s medical department, oversees quality and infection control, and provides leadership in collaboration with local health systems, community-based providers, and academic institutions. His expertise in informatics and technology helps drive On Lok’s innovations in geriatric care, integrating care delivery, data infrastructure, quality improvement, and business intelligence.
Dr. Lui joined On Lok as Chief Medical Informatics Officer in 2020, bringing over 20 years of clinical and healthcare leadership experience. He served for eight years as Chief of Community Primary Care and Director of Community Integrated Health Care at the San Francisco Department of Public Health, where he led system transformation work to enhance the capabilities of the San Francisco Health Network to address patients’ social needs. As Director of Chinatown Public Health Center, he served and advocated for a primarily immigrant population.
Dr. Lui is board certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics. He received his M.D. from Yale Medical School and his bachelor’s degree in East Asian studies from Harvard University. He is a graduate of the San Francisco General Internal Medicine Primary Care Residency Program and was a fellow in the California Health Care Foundation leadership program at UCSF.
