Managing Ongoing Health Conditions with Healthier Living

Healthier Living is a six-week workshop developed by Stanford University to help adults manage ongoing health conditions such as arthritis, asthma, cancer, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, depression, diabetes, heart disease, hepatitis B or C, high blood pressure, HIV, lung disease, obesity, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, and more.

Workshops are facilitated by two peer co-leaders in a small group setting. Participants meet once a week for 2.5 hours, learning, sharing, and building bonds.

Learn strategies and skills to improve your quality of life:

  • Setting and reaching goals for better health

  • Communicating with medical providers and caregivers

  • Using mind-body tools, including better breathing and body awareness

  • Understanding medication usage

  • Getting better sleep

  • Preventing falls

Become a Healthier Living facilitator or volunteer

You can support the Healthier Living program in several ways.

  • Attend a four-day training to become a co-facilitator of workshops in your community. Candidates must be able to read and write fluently in a specific language.

  • Assist with community outreach.
