10 tips for staying active, curious, and connected

Staying active and socially engaged becomes even more important with age. Here are 10 ideas to bring more joy and fulfillment in your life:

Join a social group. Senior centers, support groups, and church events are safe and welcoming places to meet new people.

Volunteer. Find ways to help others, like writing cards for hospital patients, reading to kids, or volunteering at your local library.

Attend small, relaxing events. Visit a museum, watch a movie, or visit with family.

Keep learning. Reading and exploring new hobbies can keep the mind sharp.

Spend time with people. Quality time can create memories and strengthen relationships.

Try gentle exercise. Chair yoga or tai chi provide movement while socializing.

Enjoy fun activities. Play card games, listen to live music, or do crafts.

Use technology to stay connected. Video calls with family, online games and virtual social groups can help maintain connections.

Spend time outdoors. Try gardening, sitting outside, feeding birds, or taking walks.

Share meals. Many participants enjoy socializing over lunch, served daily at every On Lok PACE center.
